In conjunction with the MT Virginia and DCC Juneteenth Ride, 

MTCCDMV is hosting a welcome to DC series of rides to show our 

Brother and Sister Clubs what our region has to offer for cyclists.


We will provide three routes:

Leisurely Beach Dr route, 21 miles, show and go

Welcome to DC Route, 43 miles, 10am

Fast A Route, 49 miles, 9:30am


Our club members will lead the two longer routes.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN Reflections of R. Bradley (Dr. Spoke) on the early years of the MTCC* The week after completing one of the toughest TOSRV’s (Tour of the Scioto River Valley – Columbus, OH to Portsmouth, Oh – 110 miles Saturday & Sunday) on record, - cool temps and 35 mph headwinds both days, I was invited to the wedding reception of Barber Harper, my barber at the time. I eagerly attended, as in those days I was always looking for a party.   As fate would have it, I met George, Dickey and John Fuller.   I knew of Dickey from the neighborhood; South High standout and Buffalo Bills running back – he had street rep.   As the evening progressed we talked about cycling and George shared his tale of woe with respect to riding TOSRV.   He and John had a rough 1 st time ride to Portsmouth.  Here is the membership page for joining  the  Major Taylor Cycling Club, Washington Metro Area Chapter. We are an all inclusive  non exclusive club. All members get access to Club kits,  extra swag like water bottles or food packs,  etc.  and through joining the Slack messaging app,  access to all scheduled rides.   The funds from membership also cover insurance for signature events.
